What if the things we feel aren’t the whole story?
What if we are affecting the world around us, too?
Of course we are…
But really, how much influence do we have?
I want to tell everyone about this story, but I guess when you’re an author you have to keep some of your ideas and imagination to yourself so there can still be a big reveal when the book is finally published.
But I can’t keep everything to myself. 😉
So here’s a little peek at what I’ve been working on.
For a while now, I have been quietly writing a new book.
Some of the ideas within it have been close to my heart for years, but this time I am exploring them through a story.
The story follows a young woman named Tessa through experiences that challenge the way she understands herself, other people, and the unseen ways we affect one another.
Although Tessa’s story is presented as fiction, much of its emotional truth comes from experiences that are very real to me.
And somewhere along the way, while writing her story, I realized I wasn’t only writing about what Tessa could feel from the world around her.
I was beginning to ask another question.
“Tessa kept wondering why she could feel everybody. But the real question was what energy could everybody feel from her?“
That thought stopped me.
How often do we think about what the world is doing to us without wondering what our own presence is bringing into the world?
A smile can change a moment.
Fear can enter a room.
So can laughter.
So can judgment.
So can compassion.
So can love.
We affect one another in ways we may never completely know.
And perhaps becoming aware of that is part of discovering who we really are beneath all the noise.
I still have much more of Tessa’s story to write, and I’m not ready to tell you where her journey takes her—or even what this new book is called. Not yet. 😉
But I wanted to open the door just a little and share what I have been creating.
Because I’m beginning to realize that this isn’t only a story about Tessa.
Maybe it never was.
