The Maze

In the middle of the night, a boy is running through the woods but he was not alone…

Stopping at the edge of the tree line he looks across a field. I’ll lose her in the cornfield he thought. Pausing for a brief moment, he realizes she was right on his tail. So he sprints over to the cornfield then turns around to yell “Ha ha… Hannah you are not going catch me.” and slips into a dense field of corn.

“Matt! Come on… slow down the corn is way too close together this year I can hardly fit through the corn rows and with you zig-zagging like this I’m gonna loose yah…”

“Well then you shouldn’t of eaten those two cider donuts today. Maybe that’s why you cant fit.” Matt laughs a little too loud.

Hannah stops in her tracks and quietly moves to a clearing of corn about five rows away. As she squats down she can hear Matt continue to run. She looks up and screams a blood- curtailing scream! “AHHHHHHHHWWHHHW!”

Matt stops in his tracks. He strains to listen but only hearing silence he starts to run back as fast as he can the same route they came from. Screaming “Hannah!” He slows down as he gets to the edge of the cornfield and stops. But Hannah is nowhere to be found.

“Hannah!! Hannah!! Come on this isn’t funny…” Diving back into the cornfield he panics. “Hannah where are you!” He hears a muffled voice coming from his right and it sounds as if someone is struggling. He push’s back the thick corn and fights to get into a clearing. He accidently falls and when he goes to stand up… something pops up into his face… RRRRRAAAAaaa!

“Ahhh!!” Matt yelps. He sees Hannah standing holding a scarecrows head with a big grin on her face.

“I know this guy scared the crap out of me too. So that is why I had to rip his head off. When I heard you running around I thought it only be a proper comeback for the donut fat joke… ” she shakes the scarecrows head back and forth.

“Jeez Hannah you scared the shit out of me! I was actually worried about you…” Matt said in whiney kid voice.

Hannah’s grin widened even more “Come on, help me put his head back on. Who puts glow sticks in a scarecrows eyes? I think that’s actually pretty cool.”
