What’s going on?

It was a pretty nice day, so I decided to go for a walk into town. I looked over at the fire department and saw my good friend Milo. He was just hanging out so I decided to try to relax and take my third afternoon nap. I had just closed my eyes when he jerked his head up really fast. “What’s going on Milo? In a trance he let out a long howl and with out even looking back he took off running. “Milo… Milo! I shout running after him. That’s it. I got to go see what he is up too… so I sprint faster.

Since Milo was a lot faster then me, I lost him by the third turn. I didn’t really mind because the more I ran the more I drifted from the city. I am used to dirt roads and the cobble stone kinda hurts my feet. When I saw a dirt road it made me smile. I snuck under the wooden fence and plopped down right in the middle where the grass was nice and fluffy. Catching my breath I take in how beautiful my surroundings are. I don’t think I have ever been over here – wow the other side of town is quite heavenly.

Maybe If I head back into town I could find out what Milo was up to… Ehh, I will just ask him tomorrow. As I talk my way out of familiar paths I am memorized by the beauty that surrounds me. I convince myself that I got to at least see what is around the next corner I say out loud to mostly to myself “I can turn back anytime.” Before I have a chance to stand up it feels like someone just shut off the light, my eyes were confused as to what was happening. What was once day is now darkness.

I blink my eyes hard a couple of times and realize I am now laying on concrete. “I HATE concrete!” I shriek just a little too loudly. What just happened? Did someone shoot me with a dart and I passed out? Why would they dump me in a big city?

What is going on?

Disoriented I feel the ground shake. I jump up and look behind me to where sound is coming from. I panic when I see lights coming fast towards me. No solace to be found, I run. I see a hole in the ground and jump in. A metallic cold sensation scrapes my belly as I squeeze into darkness. What have I gotten myself into? Reaching an unnatural ledge I sit down as the giant beams of light and a loud rumbling noise pass the entrance of this lucky hole I just happened to be able to squeeze into.

Only the faint light from above, luminated the ledge I sat on. Giving myself a chance to breathe I look around. As my eyes adjust to this new world, I see a warm light to the right of me and decide to investigate. Leaving the noise above I walk the hard ledge I was sitting upon. As I close in on the light it seems to flicker or pulse with a welcoming vibration. I trust my instincts and continue to investigate. Reaching the light it was actually streaming up from below. I see well worn stone stairs and decide to start to carefully climb downward. A cool chill rushes up at me as I peak in and see spikes coming down from an enormous cavern.

My eyes start to scan the area and at the bottom a beautiful woman greets me with her eyes. As she turns towards me she touches her ruby stoned gem held around her neck. I hear stone scratching against stone. Looking back at the stairs I had just climbed down, I see my entrance was now closed by a huge boulder. My eyes widened – Well I guess I am not going back that way hmm…

The woman pointed at me with her wand. “You have two choices… her voice trailed off a bit, but you only have a short amount of time to choose.” I look at the two different doors and and I’m startled by a powerful wind. “Choose wisely…” and right before my eyes she flickered out of existence. “Wait, what do these doors mean?” I scream out to the woman who no longer existed. I turn to see a man walking towards me. He was still far away from me, I could barely hear him screaming over the growing wind.

Panicking I looked up again at the hole I came in, trying to quickly analyze an escape only to realize that most of the higher stairs were flattened into a smooth no grip surface. Not having any choice I scream back to the Man. “What!?” Staring at him he takes his staff and jams it into the ground.

“The blue door is the past and the golden door is for the future!” Hardly understanding what he said, it seems with every word he spoke the wind was growing stronger. “You get to choose one thing… careful of what… you… The wind had taken over. Not understanding anything, I can no longer fight the winds turbulence. I was peeled off the ground I was desperately clinging to. The momentum of the wind had picked me up like I was just a rag doll being tossed around in circles. I tried to stabilize myself and used all my might to swim against the wind towards the man by the golden door.

I get really close to the door and a strong gust of wind slams me against one of the pillars. I scramble to dig in to anything with my nails. My paws unable to grip, I slowly start to slide closer to the blue door. The man again starts screaming at me. “Be careful… of..” I slip right by him and start to get sucked into the blue door. My past! No I don’t want to go there! Being sucked in through a small hole on the door, it was so cold to the touch that it felt like I was being burned. Ahhh… And just like that I heard the snap of a finger. A new reality void of wind. I started to investigate my wounds but there were none. I open my eyes to some sort of dreamlike reality.

A lady started speaking at me from above. “You are a curious little thing aren’t you?” I do a double take. I feel different, lighter as I look around I think to myself What is this place and how do you know that I am curious? She responds back to me out loud as if she heard my thoughts. “I have been watching you since you decided to experience the earthly plane. Don’t you remember?” A flood of memories rewound in my head… back until I almost died when I was a kitten. I say out loud “If you were watching me the whole time why didn’t you tell me about the oil bucket I fell in? “That was supposed to happen Kipton.” “Why that was horrible!” I shrieked. Every moment of my life flashed before me and in an instant everything went white.

“Hello?? I whispered “I can’t see anything… come on I have been through enough on this journey… -” I started to feel rain.

A soft voice answered. “Yes you have Kipton and that is why you are here. Today you had a chance to turn around but you decided to keep going. Sometimes wandering too far is not the right path.” I looked down at my paws I didn’t even look real.

“When you were a kitten if you did not fall in the oil you would of never been saved. And today while you were having fun you did not calculate how far away from your home you actually wandered. Learn from your mistakes Kipton and use your intuition – It’s a gift” My eyes started to work so I looked up at another beautiful lady. “I don’t want to change my past.” She knew I got it. Without another word said…

I was back on the path. For a split second I remembered my night adventure. Then I just felt weird like I should not go down this road. Umm I got a weird feeling about this... I am gonna head home before it gets dark. Maybe I’ll explore this road a different day when I have more time...

Listen to your intuition – wherever it comes from.
