From the Chronicles of Lil Kipton

I turned around and faced the challenger and the creatures that surrounded him. I assumed that they were not from around here.

“Never have I seen you in this realm stranger. Go back from where you came.”

I pointed in the other direction and made it clear that no one would enter.

A deep sinister laugh echoed from the face of metal armor. “And who is going to make me turn around and leave… – You?!”

Stepping forward I loudly say “I am Kip-ToneUS, sage and protector of these lands. Nothing in this forest goes unnoticed. Before you step one more foot, you must state your purpose for why you are here.”

“I answer to no one KIPPY toeTIN…” he growls like a beast. Metal clangs as he lunges and slashs at me with his sword. I pause and at the last millisecond jump over his head onto a nearby tree. “We can do this all-day KIPPY!!” He screams as I am climbing, I start to feel the tree shake and then give way. Ahhhhh….

I turn in the air as I fall and see that I am too high for a safe landing. I hear behind me. “Kipton this is the third time this week!” Lewis grabs my mid-section, stopping me right before the valley below and he sets me down gently.

“Kipton, do you know who that was? Lewis asks me quietly “No.” I whisper back. Sitting up straight I exclaim “I never saw him before. He did not belong, so I questioned his motives. The creatures that surrounded him looked lost and tortured… there was something just not right. I was not going to let him pass into this is sacred territory.”

“I understand.” Lewis says slowly. “But I am not always going to be there when you need me. Sometimes when things don’t feel right it is best to listen to your instincts, observe from afar or even retreat if you have to. Your time is not up yet Kipton. Choose wisely my friend.”

I sat there in the valley and shouted after Lewis “Who was that guy!?” Lewis was nowhere to be found. “Lewis wait, wait… – Who was that guy?”

On the way back up the mountain I stop halfway to see if I can spot Lewis anywhere close by. I hear a faint noise far off in the distance. It almost sounded like a bell or to be more accurate a high-pitched frequency humans never seem to hear. Looking in the direction of the sound I see waves on the ocean starting to churn and bubble. Under the bubbles an angelic creature appears and rises with the water as her chariot. I stopped and shrunk into the mountain, frozen not believing my eyes.

She warmly approaches me and starts to hum a high-pitched soundwave unlike anything I have ever heard. She vibrationally states: “Kipton you are blessed to be connected to this world in such a spiritual way. You see and feel energy differently from others. There is something I would like to show you…”

It feels like I have already entered her world for gravity no longer grips my body. Light as a feather I hold out my paw and she lifts me towards the stars.

“I heard you ask Lewis who that armored beast was… that was death Kipton.” In a metal suit of armor? I think and crinkle my brow. The humming intensifies – “Death comes in many forms.” Floating above the world I spin around. “Am I dead?” I say as my voice bounces into a void like reality.

There was a slight pause. “I am curious, why did you reach your paw out to me?” Before I have time to even think she says, “I was the beast in the armor Kipton.”

My heart flittering like a butterfly I yell “Let go of me”

“Are you sure you want me to do that?” She spins around quickly and lets go of my paw. The moment freezes in time, I try to gasp for air…

“Kipton… Kippy. You are about to fall off the catwalk…”

“Be careful Kips, I know you have nine lives… but save those for when you need em.”
