Of course I love every creature, every flower and blade of grass.
Home is where you make it but I guess I never asked…
Did I place my home on your sacred territory?
I never got to hear your side of the story.
Yes we are close to where you like to roam.
But we never venture near your home.
I made sure to teach my kitten.
She is older now and glad to have listened.
Never was I mean to you, I tried to be kind.
But I drew a line.

Oh little black cat you broke the rules.
Unbeknownst to you, I have watched your curiosity bloom into a menacing obsession.
Here comes my cat, you thought it was time she learned a lesson.
Bit and clawed you made it known.
You will never come down off of your throne.
You like my cat you say…
So the next time we go to the Vet you will pay?
At 3 am, why the whiney meows?
Of course we all know when your in town.
I am sorry but my cat can’t be your friend.
Because you have shown that the attacks will never end.
Someday maybe things will change, as for right now you have no clue.
We will love you from afar, for that is what we must do.

Thank you Missy for providing great challenges that continue to inspire me to write.
We have a visiting stray that we started to welcome but kept outside. That was until he beat up one of our older resident cats in a nasty fight.

Such a heartfelt and honest post… tenderness mixed with boundaries. Sometimes love means keeping a respectful distance. Beautifully expressed.
